Malik Muhammad Jayasi was born in 1477 in a town called Hathras, in the present-day Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. His father, Ghulam Sarwar, was a potter, and Jayasi was brought up in a traditional Muslim household. At a young age, Jayasi showed a keen interest in learning about religion and spirituality, and was initiated into the Qadiriyya Sufi order by Sheikh Ahmad Sirhindi. In his late twenties, Jayasi left Hathras for Delhi, where he became a disciple of the renowned Sufi mystic, Nizamuddin Auliya.

Died:

Jayasi passed away in 1542, at the age of 65. He was buried in the same compound where he was born. There is no known tomb or memorial to commemorate Jayasi. The only commemoration of him is a plaque installed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh at his birthplace in Hathras.
